Oceans on Enceladus are highly alkaline

Enceladus is one of the satellites of planet Saturn.

Plumes that emanated from Enceladus' south pole regions , are discharged from geysers.

The plumes are having water vapors,, molecular hydrogen, organic hydrocarbons and molecules of methane, ethane , oxygen and nitrogen.

pH levels of subsurface liquid water ocean is based on phosphate levels in ice grains discharged from Enceladus' plumes..

Researchers estimated that Enceladus' ocean has pH between 10.1 to 11.6 making it highly alkaline.

The carbon dioxide degassing within Enceladus' ocean could increase the pH value when it is discharged via the plumes.
