Why Greenland looks bigger on the map than really it is ??

 After annexing Venezuela, now Trump wants to get hold of Greenland  !!!

He said he was open to military actions to occupy this Arctic region from Denmark.

While Greenland dominates political discussions, its visual size on maps is quite misleading.

At first glance, Greenland appears as large as entire continent of Africa  on many world maps   !!!

 In reality, Greenland is 14 times smaller than Africa....

Regions close to poles, like Greenland, Antarctica and Russia are heavily sstretched.

Farther a place is from equator, larger it appears on map  !!!

It is like wrapping a flat paper around a round balloon.  To make it to fit, the edges must be wrinkled or stretched.

But Greenland is the world's largest island   !!!!
