Difference between LPG and PNG

 We all have seen the shortage of LPG nowadays.


Iran has blocked Hormuz strait and ships carrying LPG gas are stranded.



In metro cities, people are not affected by unavailability of LPG as they use PNG  !!!



What is the difference between LPG and PNG ??


1.  LPG  =  Liquified Petroleum Gas

      PNG  =  Piped Natural Gas


2.  LPG is comprised of Propane and Butane.

      PNG is comprised of methane.


3. LPG is stored in liquid form in metallic cylinders.

     PNG  comes in gaseous form via pipeline.


4.  LPG is stored under high pressure.

     PNG is stored under low pressure.


5.  LPG is heavier than air.  Sits on floor if leaked.

      PNG is lighter than air. Disperse quickly in atmosphere if leaked.


6.  LPG is available in both Urban and rural areas.

     PNG limited to cities with piped networks.


7.  LPG billing is pre paid.

      PNG billing is postpaid
