Drag force
To launch a rocket to sky, we need to overcome the effect of gravity. For that reason, enormous amount of fuel is needed. The combustion fuel will provide necessary energy to overcome the effect of gravity and helps rocket to climb over earth level.
Similarly, there is another force called Drag force which will also pose some resistance. Drag force is the frictional force caused by the particles of atmosphere which will try to resist the upward movement of rocket. Though particles of atmosphere are scattered, they will offer some resistance. This force is called drag force.
To overcome this, again the combnustion of fuels are required. Thus, the energy due to combustion of fuels comprises to overcome both gravity and drag force.
