Story of narsi mehta
Everyone heard of song Vaishnavo janate which is also considered as the favourite song of Gandhiji. The poet of song is Narsi Mehta. Here is an interesting incident from his life.
Narsi Mehta is from Gujarat. As he lost his parents in a very young age, he was living with his brother and his wife. Though brother cares for him, his wife is not at all taking care of him. She made Narsi Mehta to work for 10 hours per day at a stretch.
Similarly one day, she made Narsi to work hard. His whole body was aching. He could not sleep at night. So, he started praying to God. God has come before him. God asked Narsi what does he want? Narsi was speechless by seeing GOD.
Instead of asking something for him, Narsi asked GOD himself that what does he want ! GOD was really surprised. He said the prayers offered by devotees like Narsi is enough for him. He urged Narsi to ask for something. But Narsi didnt.
Seeing his silence, GOD himself blessed Narsi with education and intelligence.
