Shila Balika
We can see the idols of shila balikas in temples of Belur and Halebeedu. Shila Balika means idols made of stone. We can see many idols in above said temples.
People say that they are the sisters who are well educated in dancing. They used to dance in the court of King. They are also referred as Sala Bhanjike.
Sala is a name of tree in Sanskrit. Bhanjike means who breaks it. The sisters are so much engrossed in dance that they could break a tree. Hence the name Sala Bhanjike.
