The story behind Kailash temple of Ellora

The story behind Kailash temple of Ellora

The Kailash temple of Ellora is the main temple in that temple chain of Ellora. These temples built during the Rashtrakoota dynasty.
It was in the time of Krishna 1 of Rashtrakoota dynasty.  There is a story behind the making of Kailash temple of Ellora. His wife had the ambition to built a temple of God Shiv.
She said her wish to her husband. She said that she will do fasting till she sees the last part i.e. the GOPURAM of temple. Now the king is in fix.
When the temple is going to be constructed, i.e. starting from the ground level, Gopuram is going to be the last part to be constructed . Now the queen says that she will do fast till she sees the last part of temple. If the temple work is started and if the work is done in a hurry it is going to take months to complete.
King is really worried. But queen was adamant. He invited men who will complete the work as soon as possible. The news spread and also the condition of queen.
No one dared to take the job. But there was one man who had come forward. He selected a large rock and started constructing the temple with his fellow companions.
Since it was a huge rock, he started by constructing the Gopuram of temple. Then he constructed the other remaining parts of temple.
With this, even the oath taken by queen is fulfilled and also the work of a beautiful temple is completed. That temple is Kailash temple of Ellora which is built in a single rock.
