Long ago, in a village in China there lived a farmer named Feng. Feng had a beautiful daughter. He adored her very much. Once it was a femine season in China. Feng has to borrow some loans from the money lender . Money lender is an old man. He was charging more rates on loans. Feng knew all but he had no option and he borrowed the money.

Old man put a condition. If Feng is unable to pay back the money, he has to marry his daughter to old man and his debt will be cancelled. If Feng pays the money, then everything is fine. Feng agreed and borrowed money. But he was unable to pay back it.

Old man was waiting for this opportunity. He came near Feng and remembered him the condition. Seeing Feng's willingness to marry his daughter to old man, old man came with an idea. He said he will put two stones of black and white colour in a bag. When Feng's daughter picks it up, if it is black she should marry old man and debt will get cancelled. If the picked stone is white, then no need of Feng's daughter to marry him and the debt will get cancelled.

Everyone agreed to the idea. But cunning old man packed both black coloured stones in bag. But Feng's daughter had seen it. Clever as she is, she thought of a plan. When asked to pick a stone from the bag, Feng's daughter intentionally dropped the stone which she has picked, to ground. Now, no one knows the colour of stone which she has picked as every stone on ground looked similar.

Then Feng's daughter came with an idea. Since there are only 2 stones of different colours in bag, if the colour of remaining stone is known ,then it is the opposite colour stone that she had picked earlier and lost. Everyone thought logic is good and all agreed for that. When the colour of the remaining stone in bag was checked, it was black.

So, Feng's daughter earlier selected a white stone and now stone is lost. That does mean that Feng's debt is cleared and also his daughter need not marry old man. By listening to verdict, old man's face blackened. He could not tell the villagers that he had packed both black stones. But because of cleverness of Feng's daughter , she had rescued herself and also  her father from the clutches of greedy and cunning old man.
