Why do some flowers bloom at night?
We have Brahma Kamala in our garden. Since I dont know the english name of flower , I have used the Kannada name itself.
The flower blooms at night. They are trying to attract night flying moths and insects to pollinate them. Sometimes, even bats help to pollinate !
Many cactus plant have flowers which will bloom at night. They have a pleasant smell too. They are blooming at night because to prevent the water evaporation while the hot Sun is in the sky. They are having nice fragrance so that insects can get attract towards them.
