It is the desire to live
Once, Bhagwan Mahavir was walking with one of his follower , Gopalaka. They observed a plant which was just planted.
By seeing the plant , Gopalaka asked Mahavir what does he think about the plant?
Mahavir went near the plant , just watched it carefully.
Then he said to Gopalaka that plant is having the great desire to live. Hence , it will grow up and become a tree and give people , fruits.
Gopalaka laughed loudly and he plucked the plant by the root and threw it aside. Then he turned to Mahavir and said him that his prediction went wrong.
Mahavir didnt say anything. They continued their walking. After some days, again they returned in the same way.
That time, Gopalaka saw the same plant which he had thrown earlier ; to be replanted and it grew a little taller too.
Mahavir said " if we have the desire to live , at any cost we will thrive to live . Same happened to plant. It had the desire to live. "
Gopalaka didnt dare to touch the plant again !
